Gangavaram Port, the all-weather, deepwater port at Visakhapatnam, discharged 71,808 tonne coal in a single day from MV Go Patoro, the capesize vessel carrying non-coking coal for Adani Enterprises Limited.
This is more than three times the discharge rates achieved at any other port in India. Gangavaram Port has also surpassed its earlier record of discharging 57,000 tonne coal in a single day from MV Pearl Seas in April this year.
The port has till date handled around 100 vessels including three capesize coal vessels and 41 gearless Panamax vessels, according to a release.
