Garment makers in Ludhiana peeved

The garment manufacturers in Ludhiana probably have realised the strength which lies in unity. Irked over the delay in payments being made by big retail chains (buyers) for sourcing orders from them, Ludhiana garment manufacturers have forged an association MSME Garment Manufacturers’ Association of Ludhiana (MGMAL).

The garment manufacturers here, who have been catering orders to the big retail chains, were peeved over the delay in payments being made by the corporate, which eventually was affecting their financial health.

General Secretary of MGMAL Dinesh Gupta said most of the garment manufacturers in Ludhiana, who essentially come under the small and medium enterprises category, has been suffering on account of delayed payments made to them by the bigwigs.

“The retail chains are violating the protection and facilities extended to the MSME Sector under the MSME Development Act, 2006,” Gupta added.
