Banking on the wellness and regional food cuisine aspect of its newly launched GAD restaurants across its 20 hotels in the country, The Gateway Hotels is aiming at a 15 per cent rise in footfall at its properties. Of these, the company expects GAD - Gateway All Day restaurants to add 2-5 per cent incremental footfalls to the target.
Talking about the company's plans, P K Mohankumar, chief operating officer, Gateway Hotels said, "The name is actually a play with words and has a dual meaning. Gad is of course an English word that connotes a relaxed attitude, while it can also be treated as a short form for Gateway All Day. Therefore this name best personifies the thought behind the new offerings. With the increasing business travel among corporate executives who are looking at healthy food, GAD offers wellness food as well regional food cuisine. While we anyway add 10 per cent footfall every year, we expect GAD to contribute another 2-5 per cent incremental footfall this year, taking the total growth to 12-15 per cent."
Offering a combination of low glycemic index foods and super foods packed with antioxidants through Active Foods, GAD will also try to woo guests from within the city as well, apart from travelling corporate executives. "We want our guests from the city to choose this as their favorite dining outlet and spend time as they like," said Mohankumar.
As part of its research, chefs from The Gateway Hotels visited homes and worked along with the housewives in their kitchens to understand the nuances of the simple yet unique home touches in the food. The Gateway Hotel also hired housewives to cook the food in the hotel to give the fragrant home touch. "The GAD restaurant will feature some of the best international and Indian flavors. The menu will feature comfort food from Europe and India.
