General Motors (GM) is looking at selling almost 5,000 units of its latest mini-car Chevrolet Beat pan-India. “Since North India accounts for 40 per cent of all mini-car sales, we hope the region would return sales figure of 1,600-1,700 units for Beat per month,” GM vice president (sales, marketing and after sales) Ankush Arora told Business Standard on the sidelines of its launch in the Uttar Pradesh market.
He further added that the deliveries of the vehicle would start from January-end or early February. “The vehicle was put through over a million km of durability tests in extreme weather conditions and crash tests both in India and abroad to prove its utility on Indian roads,” he added.Almost 80 per cent of consolidated Indian four-wheeler market is dominated by small cars. The beat has been launched in three variants viz. Beat PS, LS and LT, carrying price tags (ex-showroom) of Rs 3.34 lakh, Rs 3.54 lakh and Rs 3.94 lakh respectively.
“Beat is powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine and is available in 7 vibrant colours,” Arora added. Later, the Beat will be launched in 170 countries around the world, including Europe, Asia and North America. Besides, the company will soon foray in commercial vehicle space by launching light vans and pick-ups up.
