Google forays into food delivery and home services in India with app Areo

You can pay for the services online using credit, debit card, or net banking, reports Tech in Asia

Google wants to be your offline handyman as well in India. It has quietly launched a new hyperlocal shopping app, Areo, which will help you order food, home maintenance tasks, and professional services. 

Areo, which is currently live only in Bangalore and Mumbai, has food service providers, including Freshmenu, Faasos, and Box8, and home services provider UrbanClap on it.

Food delivery, beauty, carpentry, electrical, fitness, and plumbing are the services currently available. It intends to offer others like accounting, appliance repair, laundry, house cleaning, house painting, and so on.

You can pay for these services online using your credit card, debit card, or net banking. There’s also the card or cash on delivery option to pay.

Areo will let you filter your search for food by vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The app will let you search by dish or restaurant, though right now, we could only spot options from Freshmenu, Box8, and Faasos. You can schedule the delivery at a time that suits you.
