Hastens to set up 12 stores by 2012

Sweden-based luxury bed manufacturer Hastens on Monday entered the Gujarat market by opening its showroom in Ahmedabad. This is the third Hastens store in India and first in Gujarat. The company plans to have 10-12 stores in various cities of the country.

“Along with the newly-launched showroom in Ahmedabad, the company has one store each in Hyderabad and Mumbai. We intend to increase the number to 10-12 by the end of the 2012,” said Sanjay Verma, country manager (India & South Africa), Hastens.

The luxury beds are priced between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 13 lakh per king size double bed. “All the beds that we sell in India are imported from Sweden as we do not have any production facility here,” he added.

Apart from Ahmedabad, the company is also mulling new showrooms in cities like Surat and Rajkot.

“All the Hastens beds are still made by hand using natural filling material and it offers a replacement warranty for 25 years,” Verma said.

The company entered India two years ago and sells around 15-20 beds per month. “Being a premium segment product, we need to educate and aware consumers before selling the product,” he said.
