The Hero Group, which is setting up BML Munjal University in Haryana, on Wednesday announced plans to launch a strong media campaign to attract students from all parts of the country.

“We will be shortly launching an ad campaign to attract students to our new university from all parts of the country. This campaign will begin in April,” said Akshay Munjal, Director of the BML Munjal University.

The institution, named after group patriarch Brij Mohan Lall Munjal, will launch operations from the next academic year in July and offer courses in engineering, management and liberal arts. “Imperial College London will mentor our school of management. The College will co-design the activities and establish digital learning platforms,” said Munjal.

Apart from this, select B Tech students will have the opportunity to undertake a one-year M Sc programme at the Imperial College Business School. The institute of inclusive innovation which is being established in partnership with Imperial College will spearhead the university’s research-led social initiatives at the grass-root level.

The university will be run by the Munjals through family funds. The Hero Group said students would be selected on the basis of any examination approved by the government, including Common Admission Test, Management Aptitude Test and the Joint Entrance Examination.

The university is located close to Manesar, about 50 km from New Delhi. Spread across 50 acres, it will have a corpus to provide scholarships and centres of excellence in the campus with the support of Siemens Company. It will have 300 seats for B Tech courses in mechanical, civil, electrical & electronics, computer sciences and electronics & communications streams.

The Munjal family’s foray into education is in line with the emerging trend of business houses showing interest in the education sector.
