Korean car maker Hyundai Motors has not only priced its newest offering, Xcent, lower than competition but has also kept the gap between the hatchback variant and sedan the lowest too.

The Hyundai Xcent, sub-4 meter sedan is priced at Rs 4.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), a premium of Rs 41,000 over the Hyundai Grand i10 model, the platform on which the sedan is built. This premium is the lowest when compared to its peers.

For instance, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, which is a segment leader selling over 18,000 units a month, is priced at a premium of Rs 43,000 over the Swift, the platform the sedan uses. The Swift Dzire is priced at Rs 4.85 lakh.

Honda which entered the compact sedan space with the Amaze has the highest gap in pricing of the two models. The Amaze at Rs 4.99 lakh is priced at a premium of Rs 100,000 over the Brio.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is the highest selling model for the Korean company with sales touching 10,000 units a month. The company, which launched the Xcent today with petrol and diesel engine options hopes to have incremental sales with the new model without much cannibalization with the Grand i10.
