Hyundai to increase Grand i10 output to cut waiting period

Company has received 1.31 lakh enquiries regarding the car since its launch in the first week of September

Buoyed by robust response to its new compact car 'Grand i10', auto major Hyundai Motor India is looking to increase the output of the model to reduce waiting period for customers.
 
"We are overwhelmed by the response that the Grand i10 has generated. We are recalibrating our production to serve our customers faster," Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) Senior Vice President and Division Head (Marketing & Sales) Rakesh Srivastava told PTI.
 
He, however, did not did not specify by how much the company would increase the production of Grand i10.

The company has received 1.31 lakh enquiries regarding the car since its launch in the first week of September. HMIL has received about 13,000 bookings till date.
 
Srivastava said the company dispatched 8,411 units in September and there were about 4,500 pending booking order.
 
 Currently, Asta and Sportz -- the two top end variants of Grand i10 -- have a waiting period of two months, while base models Era and Magna have a waiting period of one month.
 
The Grand i10 has generated a lot of interest across the country since its launch last month, he said.
 
"Within the first month of the launch the Grand i10 was among the top five highest selling models in India in September," Srivastava said.
 
 The company's two plants in Chennai have a cumulative production capacity of 6.40 lakh units per annum.
 
The Grand i10 comes in two engine variants: 1.1 litre diesel and 1.2 litre petrol. While the petrol variant is priced between Rs 4.29 lakh and Rs 5.47 lakh, the diesel version is priced between Rs 5.23 lakh and Rs 6.41 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
