The Income Tax (I-T) Department today conducted searches at the business premises of leading event management company Wizcraft International.
I-T sources said the searches began in the afternoon to check for possible instances of tax evasion. The searches come in the backdrop of a multi-agency probe into alleged corruption in the run-up to the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
The company had organised the opening and closing ceremony of the Games held from October 3-14 last year.
Sources said the team of I-T officials scanned through a number of documents at the premises of the firm, which conceptualises and organises the International Indian Film Aca-demy Awards.
When contacted, Wizcraft founder Director Sabbas Joseph said, “I can only confirm that searches have been conducted. Nothing of any significance that one can share.”
Anmod Sharma, non-executive (independent) director of the firm, said, “We don’t have anything to hide. We organised the Commonwealth ceremony splendidly.”
Some clients that Wizcraft catered, according to its website, are Indian Olympic Association, Indian Army International Film Festival Society of India and the famous Michael Jackson history tour to India, among many others.
