Idea Cellular Q4 net up 4% at Rs 267 cr

Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular today reported an increase of 4.56 per cent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 266.61 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2010, over the same period last year.

The company had a net profit Rs 254.96 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2008-09, Idea Cellular said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.      Total revenue rose to Rs 3,347.80 crore for the quarter ended March 31, from Rs 2,942.46 crore in the same period last year.

The number of operators jumped during the last 15 months, as licenses obtained during the telecom bubble days of 2007, converted into live operations.

For the full year ended March 31, 2010, the company has posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 953.94 crore, up 8.20 per cent over the same year-ago period.     
Shares of Idea Cellular today closed at Rs 63.40 on the BSE, up 3.59 per cent from previous close.
