Idea Cellular has introduced new tariff plans. The new plans offer its post paid customers to make calls at the landline rate of Rs 1.20 per minute.

The rate has come down from Rs 2 per minute for calls made between mobile phones or calls made from mobile to landline.

Vikram Mehmi, CEO of Idea Cellular Ltd. said: "We have observed that many still perceive a post paid mobile connection as more expensive than their landline phone. The reality is different. Today, a mobile handset costs almost same as a new limited range cordless phone and offers full mobility and many other useful features. And now with the Buzz 300 plan, Idea Cellular offers the power and unlimited freedom of mobile phone at the landline rental and landline rate of Rs 1.20 per minute."

By paying a nominal monthly rental, customers can avail of the special mobile-to-mobile and night tariffs on Buzz175, which offers a tariff of Re 1 per minute.

Idea has a subscriber base of over 3.7 million across the country.

With the acquisition of Escotel, Idea Cellular has enhanced its footprint to cover around 60 per cent of India's population and over 65 per cent of the potential telecom-market.

Idea now has presence in 11 circles across the country.
