The country's second largest software exporter Infosys Technologies today said it has added 35 new clients during the second quarter ended September 30, taking the total number to 571.

"35 clients were added during the quarter by Infosys and its subsidiaries," Infosys said in a statement.

"In the second quarter, the business climate has improved," Infosys CEO and Managing Director S Gopalakrishnan said, adding that "clients are now looking to invest in a few strategic initiatives and relationships to maximise value from opportunities when the economic downturn ends".

The company said that during the September quarter, 11 client projects went on-stream, of which eight were in the Asia Pacific region and three in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

"We are sharpening focus on Research & Development, Intellectual Property-based solutions, and 'New Engagement Models' (NEMs) that offer flexible pricing and greater operational control and efficiency to clients," the company statement said.

However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis the total number of clients have increased marginally to 571 at the end of Q2, from 569 at the end of April-June quarter.

Besides, the number of 'million dollar clients' decreased sequentially to 776 at the end of September quarter, from 789 in the previous quarter.
