Johnson Matthey sets up Rs 25 cr catalyst plant

| The new plant, located at Taloja, Maharashtra, will manufacture precious-metal catalysts and has a capacity of 50 tonne per annum and will cater to the fine-chemicals and pharmaceutical industries. It is the company's tenth process-catalyst plant globally. Lawrence C Pentz, executive director (process catalysts and technologies), Johnson Matthey said, "The expansion of the pharmaceutical industry in recent times have fuelled the demand for our catalyst products." |
| In 1998, the metals major had up set up its first auto-catalyst manufacturing unit in association with the Kolkata-based Arora family. Johnson Matthey holds 40 per cent in the joint venture company, while the rest is held by the Aroras. |
| The auto-catalyst unit, located near Gurgaon, has a capacity of 6 million pieces. Johnson Matthey India has presence in colours and coatings business also "" apart from catalysts. |
