Multi-purpose project Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) today said it might have to close some of its plants because of inability to pay coal bills as its outstanding dues from Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) was mounting.

DVC was yet to receive regular payment against power bills since July, 2013 amounting to Rs 314.29 crore till date from JSEB despite repeated requests, the corporation said in a statement.

This was besides the huge accumulated outstanding dues which are also receivable by DVC from JSEB.

Due to the heavy amount of current outstanding dues, DVC was not in a position to pay the coal bills to Coal India and this will ultimately hamper coal supply to all its major plants, the statement said.
