Kajaria Ceramics inks pact to market VitrA brand products

Marking its entry into the sanitary ware and bath fittings business, tiles maker Kajaria Ceramics today said it has entered into a pact with Turkey-based Eczacibasi for marketing and sales of VitrA brand products in India.

The ceramic tiles maker has entered into an agreement to act as Eczacibasi's exclusive and sole marketer and distributor for the European brand in India, Kajaria Ceramics said.

"The partnership will help in achieving the desired critical mass by leveraging our strong brand and distribution network across the country infrastructure coupled with the innovative product line of VitrA," Kajaria Ceramics Chairman & Managing Director Ashok Kajaria told reporters here.

In addition, Kajaria Ceramics plans to set up its own sanitary ware manufacturing facility in North India within the next three years.

"We will open a sanitary ware manufacturing facility in the northern part of country within the next 3 years," Kajaria told PTI.

The first exclusive VitrA-Kajaria showroom was inaugurated in Gurgaon, Haryana, today and will showcase VitrA brand sanitary ware and bath fittings products.

Commenting on the 50:50 joint venture with Kajaria Ceramics, VitrA President (Building Material Division) Husamettin Onanc said, "The Indian market is one of the strongest and fastest growing ones in the world. It's a very potential market and that is why we are entering the market."

Further, the company also plans to open 10 exclusive showrooms across the country under the brand name Vitra-Kajaria by the end of this year.

Kajaria Ceramics has two tiles manufacturing plants at Sikandrabad, in Uttar Pradesh, and Gailpur, in Rajasthan.
