It also launched a rural BPO centre at Kothamulapeta village in East Godavari district, built in collaboration with Tata Business Support Services Limited (TBSSL).The centre has a capacity of about 200 people and is expected to start operations from next month.
The employment potential of the upcoming units in the SEZ would be 1,500-2000 jobs within a year, according to the company.
Kakinada SEZ president Prasanna Challa said the youth from villages in and around Kakinada SEZ would be provided training by the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the CSR arm of GMR Group, to enable them to get jobs in these units.
Srinivas Koppolu, managing director of TBSSL said the BPO center would herald a long and beneficial collaboration between TBSSL and GMR Group cross rural locations in India.
