Noida-based mobile handset manufacturer Lava International Ltd has recorded around 300 per cent jump in its mobile handset sales in the Orissa market in the past two months.

Rohit Beohar, regional sales head (east and west), Lava International said, “Lava International is now selling 15,000-20,000 mobile handsets every month in the Orissa market. We have recorded a 300 per cent growth in our mobile handset sales in the state in the past couple of months.”

Lava is the fourth largest player in the mobile handset market in Orissa, he added.

Presently, the company sells its products through 2,500 dealer outlets across the state. Plans are afoot to open 5-7 exclusive company owned outlets in the next 2-3 months.

Lava International which was initially focusing on the rural market had now shifted its attention to the urban markets and is planning to roll out new handsets loaded with multimedia features.

Our new mobile handsets will be priced in the range of Rs 4000-7000, Beohar stated.

On tie-ups with cellular operators, he said, “We are collaborating with the mobile services providers only at the regional level. For instance we have tied up with Vodafone in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.”
