LG Electronics, on Monday, launched its high-end smartphone G2 in India, just before the festive season hoping to capture a bigger marketshare.

The device would be priced at Rs 41,500 (16GB) and the 32GB version would be priced at Rs 44,500 in India.

The device comes with a 5.2-inch screen, 13MP rear camera with optical stabilisation and a 2.1MP front camera. LG’s G2 will compete with Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 3 (priced at Rs 49,900), Sony’s Xperia Z1 (priced at Rs 44,990) and Nokia’s Lumia 1020 (price yet to be unveiled) which also have similar features.

LG Electronics, which had just about 2.3 per cent share smartphone market in India till March 31, 2013, targets to capture about 10 per cent of the Indian smartphone market by end of 2014. “We are targeting Rs 150 crore revenue from G2,” said LG Electronics India Soon Kwon. The company has lined up Rs 100-crore spend for marketing and retail and channel activities this fiscal.

LG’s G2 is powered by a 2.2-gigahertz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 software.
