The Hyderabad centre would serve both as a research and design hub.
Addressing a press conference, LVL7 Systems chief executive officer Albert Bender said: "Apart from serving as a research and design hub, the centre would also help as a support centre for the company's global operations."
According to Bender, the design centre here would exclusively focus on building Layer 2, 3,4 and above networking products.
The company is looking at initially recruiting 30 employees, which would be increased to 80 by the middle of next year.
"Being a design centre, the number of people we would be recruiting would be small when compared with other software services companies. The interesting aspect is that we have received over 5,000 applications so far," he said.
LVL7 Systems expects the Hyderabad centre to compliment the engineering team back in North Carolina.
"For the past few years, we have relied on contract software development services from India to meet the consumer demands but with our growth rate tracking 200 per cent this year and continued success in winning new design products, we thought it was the right time to set up our own operations here," he said.
LVL7 Systems is a privately owned company that has received two fundings of $10 million and $15 million respectively. US-based Carlyle group led the first round of funding and later investments came from HIG Ventures, Gabriel and RTV Ventures.
