Magazines to grow 6-10%: E&Y

The country’s magazine segment is projected to grow between 6 and 10 per cent annually over the next three years, according to a report released by Ernst & Young (E&Y) on Monday.

The growth will be fuelled by new market entrants, new titles and alternative revenue stream. The segment grew 7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,490 crore in 2009.

According to the report, the magazine industry’s share in the overall advertising market varies from 3 per cent to 4 per cent. The magazine industry is estimated at around Rs 1,100 crore, far lower than global markets.cent of the overall ad spending.
