FDA official told Business Standard: ''Samples have been collected from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Aurangabad and tests are being currently conducted at FDA laboratories. The action has been initiated as per the communication from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).''

The official said if the lead content is positive in those samples, FDA may ban the product with same batch numbers. The official also said FDA has power to initiate inquiry against the celebrities endorsing the product in the event of result is positive.
FDA clarified that as on date there has not been any ban on the sale of Maggi noodles in Maharashtra.
