Country's top car maker, Maruti Suzuki today reported a 6.5% rise in February car sales at 118,949 units as compared to 111,645 units in the same month last year.
The car sales were at 115,000 units in the month of January.
Domestic sales for February increase 6% with sales of 107,653 units as compared to 101,543 units in February last year.
The exports for the month were up 11.8% year-over-year (y-o-y) at 11,296 units as compared to 10,102 units in the month of February last year.
Total passenger vehicles sales rose by 7.1% at 94,118 unit sales against sales of 87,851 units in February, 2011. The Super compact DZire sales increased by 58.8% to 15,068 unit and compact cars -- Swift, Estilo, Ritz sales rose 31.1% at 27,900 units of sales.
On the other hand, mini cars -- M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR sales dropped 8% with sales at 49,104 units, while mid-size SX4 and executive car Kizashi sales declined 42.5% and 44% respectively from February last year.
At 10:58 am, the stock was up 3.09% trading at at Rs 1,304 apiece in a weak Mumbai market which was down 1.12%.
