Messung enters building automation business

Partners with Canada-based Distech Controls for serving their products in Indian market

Pune-based automation company Messung Group has entered into a partnership with Canadian firm Distech Controls, for serving their products in Indian market.

The partnership will offer Distech Controls' complete range of products and solutions. With this, Messung will target sectors such as building infrastructure (IT, hotels, shopping malls & theaters), transportation infrastructure (airport, metro & tunnels), and manufacturing (pharma, textile and automotive).

"There is a need to create market for building automation products especially on account of modernisation of government offices, upcoming smart city projects, and rising demand from commercial complexes in the country. The market is anticipated to exhibit robust growth on account of rising security concerns and growing efforts of commercial and IT/ITeS sectors to minimise their operational costs. In India, we are targeting revenue of Rs 50 crore by 2020," said Farook Merchant, chairman & managing director, Messung Group.

According to recently released TechSci Research report, "India Building Automation & Control Systems Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020", building automation & control systems market in India is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 22 per cent during 2015-20.

The report further says that in terms of revenue contribution, IT/ITeS segment accounted for majority share in building automation & control systems market in India in 2014, followed by the commercial sector. Moreover, educational institutes and luxury hotel chains are also emerging as opportunity areas for companies operating in the market, as these segments are increasingly deploying electronic security and lighting systems in their premises.

Merchant added: "Our alliance with Distech Controls marks Messung Group's entry into the building automation segment, allowing us to offer world class products and solutions to the Indian market. I am confident that this partnership between Messung and Distech Controls will redefine the way in which buildings are automated in India.

In India, Messung will compete with other suppliers of building automation and controls systems such as Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric and Johnson Controls.
