In a bid to boost entrepreneurship at its campus, the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) is inaugurating the country's first ever communications technology based business incubator. Innovatively named as the 'Com-cubator', the incubation centre will be launched on Wednesday, November 24 2010.

MICA has set up the first-of-its-kind incubation centre, solely devoted to incubating communications related initiatives with the support of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India,"The Com-cubator is a very interesting step for MICA-EDC. It will offer budding entrepreneurs and established ones a well provisioned digital space to operate from. It will also offer individuals an opportunity to engage with venture capitalists," said Ashok Ranchhod, Director, MICA.The major objectives of the com-cubator would be to develop, nurture, promote and successfully commercialise ventures based on innovative ideas and business models in the area of communications by incubating start ups created by enterprising individuals. The Com-cubator would also be providing training and mentorship to the incubates and extend full support in terms of using MICA's facilities, library resources and faculty guidance.

The Com-cubator is equipped with well-designed offices as well as state-of-the-art communication technology facilities, an IMac lab, an Idea lab, web support, opportunities for VC funding and accounting and/or legal support. The Com-cubator will be of great benefit for the students of the Post Graduate Programme in Communications Management and Entrepreneurship as they will get to utilize all the facilities of the Com-cubator. "The Com-cubator can be a buzzing ground for nurturing and developing innovative ideas and entrepreneurship. With our state-of-the-art infrastructure, MICA's well known expertise in the areas of communications related businesses and the wonderful support by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, we are in a great position to promote, nurture and develop the spirit of entrepreneurship in the Communications sector," said Roshan Kumar, manager, Com-cubator (MICA).
