Motorola Mobility today said it will acquire Dreampark, an IPTV software provider for an undisclosed amount.
"We have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Dreampark, a leading IPTV software provider based in Sweden," Motorola Mobility said in a statement.
However, the company has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal.
"This transaction enables us to continue to enhance our Medios software portfolio and capitalise upon the convergence of wireless technology, media, mobile computing and the Internet," said John Burke, senior vice-president and general manager of Motorola Mobility's Converged Experiences business.
Motorola Mobility, the mobile phone division of global telecom giant Motorola, which was hived off from the rest of the company in January, said that the acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2011.
Motorola's mobile unit includes handsets and set-top boxes that will continue to do business under the name Motorola Mobility, while the remaining Motorola changes its name to Motorola Solutions.
It will sell police radios and barcode scanners to government and business customers.
Earlier in December, Motorola Mobility announced it will acquire Zecter, a start-up firm offering products for cloud-based storage and streaming of digital media to Internet-enabled devices.
