Seventy-seven India-bound containers of Real Juice manufactured by Dabur Nepal, a subsidiary of Dabur India, were on Sunday seized by Nepal's anti graft body after receiving complaints about their quality.

The Commission for the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) confiscated the containers of Dabur Nepal that were being exported to India from Sirsiya Dry Port in Birgunj, officials said.

A team comprising officials from CIAA has launched a probe into the matter. The CIAA has raided the Dabur godown after some local people who claimed that the products had crossed their expiry date, the officials said.

However, a senior Dabur Nepal official said that the goods seize were stocks from the month of September as there was no production or export of the items due to the months-long blockade in Nepal-India border by Madhesis protesting against the new Constitution.

"The goods in the containers have already gone through quality control and it has three-four months time to expire," the official said.

As the containers have manufacturing date of September it can be consumed within six months from the manufacturing date, which means the products will expire only in March, the Dabur official said.

Many Indian joint ventures are suffering heavy loss these days due to the blockade of the southern border check points of Nepal.

Dabur Nepal is the largest juice manufacturing company operating in Nepal and India is the major market for the products.

There is no problem in investigating the quality and the expiry date of Dabur's products, said the official talking to PTI.
