In an attempt to bring in some of the best global engineering companies to its upcoming Gallops Engineering special economic zone (SEZ), realty company NG Group is in talks with some international players. As of now, the company is investing around Rs 495 crore for the SEZ project.

"We have signed deal with one of the city-based engineering companies but we will now be focusing on attracting foreign companies. There are lot of engineering giants around the world who will be interested to invest in Gujarat if given the appropriate benefits and we would like to invite them to our SEZ," said NG Patel, chairman of NG Corporation.

Spread across an area of 202 hectares and located near Ahmedabad, Gallops SEZ entails an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore and intends to create an employment opportunity for over 10,000 persons directly or indirectly. Recently, the company received an additional notification for 21 hectares, taking the total notified SEZ area to 223 hectares, Patel added.

Among the domestic companies, NG Corporation is in talks with players like Gujarat Apollo, Supernova, AIA Engineering, Mamta Energy and Harsha Engineering for setting up facilities in the SEZ, said Patel. However, Patel added that NG Corporation had only held preliminary talks with Electrotherm (India) Limited and had not signed any deals with the company.

Meanwhile, to boost employment in the SEZ, NG Corporation is in talks with the Gujarat government to set up an ITI within the SEZ premises to provide training to the locals.
