Panasonic India plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in Haryana to set up a manufacturing unit for air conditioners, washing machines and welding and cutting machines. This was announced by the senior officials of the company at the ground-breaking ceremony to launch the construction of Panasonic India’s new factory project at Dadritoi village in Jhajjar district, where the company would provide employment to 4,000 people.
This will be the first Panasonic “Eco-ideas” factory in India, which would be spread over an area of 76 acres. The company will make the total investment over a period of five years. The construction of manufacturing unit will commence in April, 2011 and would be completed by April, 2012. The mass production will start in August, 2012. The factory will house the facilities to manufacture about one million sets of air conditioners, 400,000 sets of washing machines and 25,000 sets of welding and cutting machines every year.
Welcoming Panasonic India’s New Factory Project in Haryana, Deepender Singh Hooda, member parliament from Haryana said this factory would prove a big milestone in development of Jhajjar. Like the Maruti-Suzuki company, which has changed the face of Gurgaon, Panasonic company, will also contribute in developing Jhajjar into an industrial hub. Hooda stressed on providing employment to maximum number of local people in this factory. The company can train the qualified persons for adequate skills by opening training centres in the state government ITIs in Jhajjar, he said. He also called upon the company to adopt Dadritoi as well as nearby villages and develop them into model villages. He hoped, with the coming of Panasonic, other companies will also feel attracted to the mushrooming industrial hub at Jhajjar.
Panasonic India President Daizo Ito said, Panasonic have growing confidence in the developing economy of India. “That is why we decided to expand our activities in India. Panasonic aims to be the world’s No. 1 Green Innovation company in the electronics industry by 2018, when it completes its 100 years,” he added. He expressed hope that the company will get all cooperation, so that it can fulfill its objectives.
Panasonic Asia Pacific Managing Director Ikuo Miyamoto, Panasonic India President Daizo Ito, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) Managing Director Rajeev Arora, and other senior officers from Panasonic and HSIIDC, were also present on this occasion.
