Rs 200-crore Paras Pharmaceutical Ltd engaged in production of the popular over-the-counter (OTC) brands such as Moov, D'Cold, Borosoft, Krack, etc, today announced the opening of a Rs 50-crore multi-speciality hospital in Ahmedabad. The 275-bed Sterling Hospital was today inaugurated by the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

Sterling Hospital chairman Girish N Patel said that while a loan of Rs 12 crore has been availed from ICICI Bank for the project, the balance Rs 38 crore has been brought in by Paras Pharmaceutical Ltd.

Claiming that the opening of Sterling Hospital marks a revolutionary change in the healthcare preparedness of Gujarat, managing director Dinesh A Patel said, "It will definitely put an end to the earlier trend of large number of patients from the state going to Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai for speciality medical care."

Emphasising that Sterling Hospital offers a wide range of multi-specialities such as cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, trauma care, oncology, gastroenterology and diabetology besides laying special thrust on emergency care, Patel said, "Our aim is to be able to achieve a 60-second response time for emergency cases."

The hospital would have seven major operation theatres equipped with HEPA filters, MAC laminar tents from USA, German lighting systems as well as hi-tech monitors from Europe and USA for all its beds. And for services such as restaurant and catering as well as laundry and housekeeping, it has tied up with an ISO-9000-certified company Radhakrishna Hospitality Services Pvt Ltd, he revealed.

In addition it would have digital cardiac cath lab, spiral CT scan, complete non-invasive cardiac diagnostic setup, dialysis units, EEG & EMG facilities and various other multi-faculty specialities, Patel elaborated.
