Polaris Software net rises 94%

Polaris Software Lab, an application development company in banking, financial and insurance sector, has reported a 94 per cent increase in net profit for the third quarter ended December 2008, to Rs 37.17 crore, compared to Rs 19.12 crore during the same period last year. Company’s revenue rose by 31 per cent to Rs 372.58 crore during the quarter, compared to Rs 282.14 crore in the same period last year.

Madras Aluminium net loss at Rs 7 crore

Chennai: Salem-based Madras Aluminium Company has reported a net loss of Rs 7 crore during the third quarter ended December 2008, compared to net profit of Rs 14.72 crore for the same period last year. Company has reported 6 per cent increase in total income at Rs 117 crore as compared to Rs 110 crore. Other income dropped to Rs 4 crore during the last quarter from Rs 10 crore.

Mount Everest net loss widens

New Delhi: Mount Everest Mineral Water today said its net loss for the period ended December 2008 widened to Rs 7.38 crore. It incurred a net loss of 54.62 lakh for the same quarter last year, the Tata group company said in a filing to the BSE.

MRPL posts loss of Rs 285 crore

Mumbai: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), reported a net loss of Rs 285 crore in the third quarter ended December 2008, against a profit of Rs 346 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.

Shaw Wallace net plummets 89%

Mumbai: Vijay Mallya Group firm Shaw Wallace & Company said its net profit for quarter ended December 2008 dipped 88.81 per cent to Rs 1.29 crore. The company had a net profit of Rs 11.54 crore for the same quarter last year, Shaw Wallace & Company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

TRF dips 81 per cent at Rs 1.16 crore

Mumbai: TRF, a Tata group firm, has said its consolidated net profit for the third quarter ended December 2008 declined 80.69 per cent to Rs 1.16 crore. The company had a net profit of Rs 6.01 crore in the December quarter last financial year, TRF said in a filing to BSE.

United Breweries Holdings net up 67%

Mumbai: Liquor baron Vijay Mallya-led United Breweries Holdings has said its net profit for the third quarter ended December 2008 jumped 66.98 per cent to Rs 6.93 crore. The company had a net profit of Rs 4.15 crore for the same quarter last year, United Breweries Holdings said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

For the nine months ended December 2008, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 31.15 crore, against Rs 50.16 crore for the same period last year. Total income of the company rose to Rs 72.05 crore.
