At a time when automatic scooters are selling in large numbers among women buyers, companies are bracing themselves up to move up the value chain by launching power-packed scooters with muscle looks to attract the male audience.
Japanese and domestic two-wheeler manufacturers are contemplating models with engine power in excess of 150cc for launch in India.
Analysts suggest that automatic scooters will be the future of commuting in cities for men, a segment dominated by 100cc motorcycles.
TVS Motors, Kinetic, Honda Motorcycle, Yamaha, Bajaj Auto and Suzuki Motorcycles are eyeing a piece of the power scooter segment. One of the first of such bikes to be launched will be the Bajaj Blade (150cc) which is expected in showrooms in the later half of this year.
