If you are preparing for the civil services, bank or other state and central government  jobs, there is an app which could help you do so in your own vernacular.

The Gurgaon-based start-up was founded in 2014 by Vipin Agarwal and Bhola Ram Meena.

OnlineTyari is a web and mobile app providing solutions for online preparation for different competitive exams.

Last week, the start-up rasied $3 million (Rs 20 crore) in a Series-A round of funding led by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and other angel investors. It had also raised Rs  5 crore in a pre-Series A round from a host of angel investors last year.

The start-up plans to use the raised funds to expand operations and acquisitions in businesses across the domains of technology and education. It is currently available in English, Hindi, Marathi and plans to offer their services in all major Indian languages by the end of 2017.

It offers a mobile application that allows customised, curated and vernacular test preparation content, delivered through very low internet bandwidths. One can also access the app offline. The preparation materials include full mock tests and current affairs articles.

“We generate revenue through study material which we get from publication houses and coaching institutes. The platform acts as a curated marketplace for these”, says Nishit Mathur, director of operations. Advertisement is the other source of revenue.

The app has nearly four million downloads and about 400,000 daily active users. It is available on the Android and Windows platform and plans to launch on iOS as well.
