R-Com CEO Sawhny steps down
Barney and Singh, who are already working with the company, will function as acting co-CEOs with immediate effect
Kiran Rathee New Delhi Reliance Communications (R-Com) has said its CEO Vinod Sawhny has stepped down for personal reasons and William Barney and Gurdeep Singh will take over as acting co-CEOs of the company with immediate effect.
The Anil Ambani-owned company in a filing to stock exchanges said it has accepted request of Vinod Sawhny to step down as chief executive officer with effect from September 30, 2016, to enable him and his family to relocate to New Delhi for personal reasons.
Barney and Singh, who are already working with the company, will function as acting co-CEOs with immediate effect. Barney has been the CEO of Global Cloud Xchange and India Enterprise Business, while Singh has been the CEO of the R-Com's consumer business.
R-Com and Maxis Communications, promoters of Aircel, had already announced to merge their wireless businesses to form India's fourth-largest telecom operator.
