After 5 years and 1500 person-years, software to take on SAP, Oracle to be unveiled
For the Chennai-based Ramco Systems, the day of reckoning has come. After five years and 1,500 person-years of work, the company is slated to officially launch its technology platform Ramco Virtual Works, which it claims is versatile enough to compete with the likes of SAP and Oracle in the products space and companies such as TCS and Infosys Technologies in the software services space.
Not every company in the world can boast of being able to compete effectively against product and software service players, using the same technology platform for delivery of solutions.
But the potential that it affords the company in terms of growth can be gauged from the conservative estimate that company officials project of a 50 per cent top line growth in the next year. Current revenues are about $37 million.
For ex-World Banker, and the man behind the five-year effort of Ramco to evolve from being just another low cost ERP (enterprise resource planning) product, S Parthasarathy, vice president, R&D, Ramco Systems, the journey started from the simple premise of how to bring down maintenance costs.
