US tax services firm Ryan, LLC will soon launch consultancy services for companies in India in the area of  value-added tax (VAT) and subsequently in general sales tax (GST) once the country moves to the new tax regime.

“We will have front line services in the near future, We will also be hiring tax research experts here in India,” said G Brint Ryan, chairman and CEO of Ryan, on Wednesday, who formally launched the firm’s India centre in Hyderabad.

The 180-employee-strong client support centre in the city became a part of Ryan after the firm acquired the property tax services business of Thompson Reuters last year. This location was serving as a backend support facility, including data entry operations related to tax filings, for the clients in other countries.

Ryan said they would be increasing the manpower at the Hyderabad centre to 220  by the second quarter of next year to be able to also offer tax services from here and to possibly make it as a hub for South Asia operations.

The facility contributed $125 million in annual revenues to the firm and is expected to go up to $150 million in the near future.
