Shree Renuka Sugars, India's largest sugar refiner said today that it will expand its sugar refining capacity at its Athani unit in Karnataka to 2,000 tonne per day from 1,000 tonne per day.
In a filling with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company also stated that it will set up a sugar refining capacity of 1,000 tonne per day at its Havalga unit also in Karnataka. Both plants are expected to be commissioned by December.
With the commissioning of the above refineries, the company's sugar refining capacity will increase to 6,000 tonne per day, which includes the 2,000 tonne per day port-based sugar refinery at Haldia, West Bengal and the 4,000 tonne per day refining capacity at three of its integrated sugar mills in Karnataka.
Its stock was trading up by 0.49 per cent at Rs 134 on the BSE as against its yesterday's close of Rs 133.35 per share.
