Siemens Q2 net rises 53% to Rs 278 cr

Heavy electrical equipment maker Siemens today said its net profit grew 53.34% to Rs 277.68 crore in the second quarter ended March 31, 2011, over the corresponding period a year ago.

The company had net profit of Rs 181.08 crore in the March quarter last fiscal, Siemens said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Net income of the company increased to Rs 3,033.72 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 2,212.42 crore during the same period previous year, it said.

For the six-month period ended March 31, 2011, net profit rose to Rs 522.33 crore from Rs 419.61 crore in the half-yearly period previous year.

Net income jumped up to Rs 5,599.71 crore in the six-month period under review from Rs 4,079.49 crore during the same period last fiscal.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 862.95, marginally up from the previous close on the BSE.
