Microsoft has announced that the Skype Translator Preview for Windows will be available by the end of summer 2015.
The Skype Translator can translate into four spoken languages — English, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin — along with 50 written instant messaging languages.
The app not only translates conversations into different languages in near real time, but also provides a transcript of the conversation, giving a subtitle-like ease to the user.
Earlier, Microsoft had made it easier to obtain and use this latest add-on to its video-calling software, when they removed the sign-up requirement last month. Since then, the add-on has seen a 300% rise in its usage.
