Shares of Tata Power went up by nearly 3% in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange today, boosted by a three-fold increase in net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010.
The country's largest private power producer, Tata Power, rose by 2.99% to an early high of Rs 1,278.50 on the BSE. The stock was also the top performer among the 30-Sensex scrips in early trade.
In a similar fashion, the stock surged by 3.03% to Rs 1,279 on the National Stock Exchange.
The company, had yesterday, posted a three-fold jump in net profit to Rs 464.11 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010.
