SpiceJet has altered its schedule, tied up with hotels and hired additional 75 employees in its reservation department as a part of its fog preparedness measure.
The airline has altered its flight schedule for fog-prone cities like Varanasi, Chandigarh, Amritsar, with early departures for night flights and day-time departures for morning flights. The schedule change will be effective between December 15, 2015 and January 31, 2016.
SpiceJet's Boeing aircraft are compliant to land in CAT IIIA conditions (visibility of 175 metres) and pilots are trained to land in the conditions. The airline will also deploy additional engineers who will provide requisite support as and when required.
In the event of flight disruptions, the airline has prepared itself to accommodate its passengers and crew members by tying up with several hotels. Catering arrangements have also been made so that the airline has a good supply of food in case of contingencies during the fog period. The airline has hired an additional 75 odd employees exclusively for its reservations department to ensure effective communication with passengers in case of disruptions.
