Software services major Infosys today said Sridar A Iyengar has retired from the Board of Directors, after serving the company for over nine years.
An independent director, Iyengar had joined the Infosys Board in 2003 and was also a member of the board of Infosys BPO since September 2004, Infosys said in a filing to the BSE.
"Sridar has contributed immensely to the company's success. His thought leadership in the area of finance, risk management and governance has been extremely valuable," Infosys Board Chairman K V Kamath said.
The announcement is in accordance with the company's policy of retirement (on attaining the age of 65 years) for the Board of Directors.
Iyengar has been an independent mentor investor in early stage start-ups and companies. For more than 35 years, he has worked in the UK, US and India with a large number of companies, advising them on strategy and other issues.
Earlier, Iyengar was a senior partner with KPMG in the US and UK and has served for three years as the Chairman and CEO of KPMG's operations in India.
A Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree holder from the University of Calcutta, Iyengar is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
