Green activists and the fishermen community have geared up to intensify their agitation against the Paradeep Port Trust (PPT) in protest against the marine pollution caused by the oil spill from the sunken vessel. Noted environmentalist, Shanknad Behera has threatened to intensify agitation and stage a dharana on October 29 in front of the PPT office.
He held the ship owners, ship agents, port officials and the stevedoring company responsible for the unfortunate sinking of Black Rose. The local fishermen community is gearing up for a mass movement against PPT as they felt that the port authorities were not taking any step to check marine pollution which had resulted in the death of marine species.
