Sun TV Q1 net profit flat at Rs 166 cr

The IPL franchise income was at Rs 113 cr while it was Rs 99 cr during the corresponding quarter of last year

Kalanithi Maran-promoted Sun TV Network Ltd has posted a marginal growth of 0.7 per cent in net profit during the quarter ended June 30, 2014, at Rs 165.64 crore as against Rs 164.44 crore for the same period of previous fiscal year.

The total income from operations experienced a growth of 5.27%, at Rs 633.58 crore during the quarter, compared to Rs 601.85 crore posted during the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal year.

Advertisement revenue has went up marginally at Rs 280.42 crore during the quarter and the PAT excluding IPL for the quarter was up around 5% at Rs 194.70 crore, said the company. It added that the subscription revenues continue to maintain growth, with cable TV revenues growing at around 15 per cent and Direct-To-Home (DTH) subscription revenue growing by around 21% over the same quarter of last year.

The result of the quarter ended June 30, 2014 includes income from the company's IPL franchise Sun Risers Hyderabad of Rs 113.41 crore, which was at Rs 105.53 crore during the year ended March 31, 2014 and Rs 98.54 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2013. The results also include costs of Rs 156.86 crore, which was Rs 142.06 crore during the financial year ended March 31, 2014 and Rs 129.33 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2013, it said.
