Eyes Rs 1K crore turnover in the next four to five years.

In an attempt at both backward and forward integration, Ahmedabad-based Sundek International is planning a foray into pre-laminated boards and furniture, respectively.

What's more, on the back of fresh investment in the new manufacturing plants, Sundek, which manufactures decorative laminates, is eyeing a Rs 1,000 crore turnover in next 4-5 years.

"The plan is to become one-stop shop in interior decor material. Which is why, we are looking at both backward and forward integration right from raw chipboards and pre-laminated boards to furniture. We will be foraying into premium as well as medium range of furniture at an investment of Rs 20 crore soon," said Shashikant Gupta, chairman of Sundek International.

To begin with, the company would also be investing around Rs 80 crore for manufacturing raw chipboards and around Rs 10 crore for setting up a pre-laminated board manufacturing plant.

Currently, Sundek runs a state-of-the art laminates production unit in Ahmedabad. Spread over 53,000 sq mtrs of land, the plant has a total laminate manufacturing capacity of 150,000 sheets per month. With a staff base of 200, the company currently pegs a turnover of around Rs 41 crore per annum.

"Our manufacturing unit is equipped with ultra-modern imported machineries and best technical practices adopted from across the globe. The production unit boasts of an ultra-modern laboratory with in-house R&D facilities that ensures continuous innovation," said Gupta.

Talking further about the company's initiatives, Gupta said that Sundek is also committed to the cause of a clean and green environment. “It has a high-end effluent treatment plant to ensure zero pollution. Using incinerator Sundek converts all our waste materials into ash that are used in construction sector. Have also come up with innovative eco-friendly product presentation techniques that will save wastage and support go-green movement," he added.

Recently, the company launched a range of high pressure decorative laminates with a range of laminate designs including custom printed 'Era' and 'D'Infinity' range of designs.

Meanwhile, of the five million sheets per month laminate market in the country, Sundek holds a mere three per cent share. Post expansion, the company is looking at a market share in double digits.
