Taj's Gateway Colombo reopens with new inventory

Nestled amidst a 38-acre coconut plantation bordering the Negombo Lagoon, The Gateway Hotel in Colombo now boasts of total inventory of 200 rooms

Gateway Hotel Airport Garden Colombo, the four star hotel managed by Taj Hotels and Resorts has opened 100 additional rooms at the property after a $10 million (Rs 61 crore) renovation.

Nestled amidst a 38-acre coconut plantation bordering the Negombo Lagoon, The Gateway Hotel in Colombo now boasts of total inventory of 200 rooms.

The theme of the new block, consisting of 98 Executive Rooms and 2 Gateway Suites, has been conceptualized to include a modern flavour of Sri Lanka and caters to all segments of MICE, leisure, corporate and transit travelers.

Rohit Khosla, Area Director - Sri Lanka, The Taj Group of Hotels said, "The Gateway Hotel Colombo has enjoyed the continuous loyalty of its patrons since inception. Given the hotel's proximity to the airport and the steady growth of Sri Lankan tourism we feel it is an opportune time to expand our inventory."

"Refurbished at a cost of Srilankan Rupees 1.3 billion, the hotel is designed to reflect international standards with a brand new contemporary design. We welcome Sri Lankans and international travelers back to their favourite hotel with enhanced facilities to experience the legendary Taj hospitality", he added.

Operational for the past three decades, The Gateway Hotel Airport Garden Colombo is jointly owned by Mukesh Advani & Mr. Prakash Advani (with 25% equity each) and Hirdaramani family (with the balance of 50%).

Since inception the hotel is managed and operated by The Taj Group of Hotels that also operates two other properties in Sri Lanka - Colombo and Bentota under the Taj and Vivanta brand respectively.
