Tata Comm Q3 net loss at Rs 201 cr

Tata Communications today reported net loss of Rs 201 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2012 due to rise in expenditures.

The company had posted a net loss of Rs 153.06 crore in the same period a year ago.

Tata Communications' consolidated income from operations during the reported quarter increased by 23% to Rs 4,434.11 crore from Rs 3,604.1 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal, the company said in a BSE filing.

The expenses of the company increased by 22.3% to Rs 4,373.09 crore during the reported quarter compared to Rs 3,575.07 crore in the same quarter in FY2012, it said.

The company saw its consolidated income from global voice solutions (GVS) increasing during the quarter, under which it facilitates voice calls like facility for telecom operators.

The income from GVS business of Tata Communications increased by 28% to Rs 2,214.27 crore from Rs 1,727.27 crore in Q3, FY2012.

The consolidated income of company from global data and managed services business increased by 21% to Rs 1,738.88 crore during the reported quarter from Rs 1,437.48 crore in the same period a year ago.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 226.8 apiece, up by 1.11%, in the late afternoon session at the BSE.
