Tata group firm Tata Communications today reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 165.2 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011.
This is against a net loss of Rs 202.8 crore during the same period last fiscal, Tata Communications said in a filing to the BSE.
Revenue from telecommunication and other services during the reported quarter was, however, up by 13.94% at Rs 3,373.6 crore from Rs 2,960.7 crore in the same period last year.
The global data and global voice segments of Tata Communications' core business showed strong improvement in revenue and profit margins.
Data segment revenues grew 12%, while the voice segment's net revenue grew four per cent year-on-year across the global operations, the company said.
Neotel, Tata Communications' subsidiary in South Africa posted a 30% y-o-y growth in revenue and for the first time reported an operating profit this quarter.
