Tata Motors sales down 34% in Jan

Domestic sales in commerical vehicle segment plunged 40%

Tata Motors today reported a 34% decline in total vehicle sales to 40,481 units in January.

The company had sold 61,660 vehicles in the same month last year.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales dropped to 10,974 units in January, down from 15,209 units a year earlier.

Tata Motors sold 8,463 units of Nano, Indica and Indigo cars and 2,511 units of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture vehicles, the company said in a statement.

In the commercial vehicles segment, domestic sales declined about 40% to 25,683 units from 42,571 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Exports were 1.44% lower at 3,824 vehicles, Tata Motors said.
