Tata Motors today said it will ramp up production of light trucks and buses to 3.5 lakh units per annum from 2.5 lakh units at present by end of this financial year.

"We will ramp up the capacity of light trucks and buses at our Pantnagar facility in Uttarakhand to 3.5 lakh units per annum from present 2.5 lakh units by end-this financial year," Tata Motors President (Commercial Vehicles Unit) Ravi Pisharody told reporters here.

The homegrown auto major also plans to finish the construction of its light truck factory at Dharwad in Karnataka by the end of the year.

"We expect to complete our light truck factory at Dharwad by end-this fiscal," Tata Motors' Head (Sales), Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Sandeep Kumar, said.

However, he did not reveal the factory's initial capacity and other details.

The auto giant has already set up a bus factory in Dharwad in a joint venture with Marcopolo of Brazil.

The company's Dharwad plant now cater to India's growing need for world-class fully built buses for intra-city and inter-city transportation with international standard.
